Cora Diaz

Cora Díaz is a multidiciplinary visual artist who has explored a variety of techniques throughout her artistic career. She is a graduate from the prestigious École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Visuels La Cambre and the Académie Royale des Beaux-Arts de Bruxelles, and holds several awards among others, La Première Mention du Prix Pierre Paul Hamesse 2000. Her artwork has been widely exhibited internationally -both at solo and collective exhibitions- including at the Royal Museum of Mariemont, Académie Royale des Beaux-Arts de Bruxelles, the Fine Arts Museum of Taipei (which holds in its collection a piece of her work), Museo Nacional de la Estampa MUNAE and the Center for the Arts de Monterrey, these last ones in Mexico. One of her art works has been declared part of the cultural heritage of the state of Nuevo León, Mexico.

Originary from the Peruvian Amazon, Cora lives between Mexico, Peru and Belgium. Growing up surrounded by the Amazon forest has had a profound impact in her art work where she captures the very essence of the countless natural tropical scenes. While her oil paintings are realistically striking, her charcoal and ink drawings invite us to decipher a natural world transformed into symbols and details.

Her ability to transition between painting and drawing has allowed Cora to explore different techniques and skills that she has developed also in mural and monumental paintings. These can be found seen across Mexico in cultural and education institutions.
